Sauna Hus Build Update – Summer 2026
Sauna Hus is a wood-fired mobile sauna currently under construction, transforming a vintage horsebox into a traditional Nordic sauna experience for Suffolk and Norfolk. Over the summer months, the build has slowed slightly as we’ve balanced construction with adventure, wellbeing and enjoying everything that Suffolk has to offer.
Rather than operating from one permanent base, Sauna Hus will now become a traditional wood-fired mobile sauna available for private hire, events and experiences throughout Suffolk and Norfolk.
This change opens up a huge range of possibilities and allows us to bring authentic Nordic sauna culture directly to people, wherever they are.

A Change of Direction
Why We’re Building a Wood-Fired Mobile Sauna
One of the things we’ve realised during the build is that some of the best sauna experiences happen in unique locations and shared experiences.
Instead of asking people to travel to us, we’ll be bringing Sauna Hus to:
- Sporting events and races
- Parkruns and community events
- Open water swimming gatherings
- Small festivals
- Corporate and team-building events
- Emergency service wellbeing days
- Wellness retreats
- Outdoor clubs and adventure communities
- Private parties and celebrations
We’re also exploring opportunities to operate from selected locations around Norfolk and Suffolk for short periods throughout the year, allowing more people to experience traditional wood-fired sauna culture.
Much of our inspiration comes from traditional Nordic sauna culture, as promoted by the Finnish Sauna Society.

Slowing Down During the Wood-Fired Mobile Sauna Build
One thing we’ve learned during this project is that building a sauna isn’t a race.
Progress has slowed over the summer months, partly because we’ve been fortunate enough to enjoy some beautiful weather here in Suffolk. We’ve made a conscious decision to balance the build with spending time outdoors, looking after our own wellbeing, and enjoying the landscapes and adventures that inspired Sauna Hus in the first place.
Mental health and wellbeing are hugely important. Sometimes that means putting the tools down, heading outside and enjoying everything that Suffolk, Norfolk and beyond have to offer.
It’s also been an incredibly busy and memorable year personally.
Earlier this year, I had the privilege of taking part in the Fjällräven Polar, an unforgettable expedition across Arctic Scandinavia.
Alongside this, there have been further adventures and expeditions in Sweden and elsewhere, all of which have reinforced why we wanted to create Sauna Hus: a place where people can slow down, recover, reconnect and reset.

Build Progress So Far
Although we’ve taken our time, we’re really pleased with how the build is progressing.
So far we’ve completed:
✅ Interior cladding throughout the sauna
✅ Installation of the bespoke wood-fired sauna stove
✅ The complete electrical installation
✅ Solar charging system and leisure battery setup
✅ Testing of the solar system
✅ Construction of the sauna benches
The final timber for the benches is due to arrive next week, which means we’ll soon be completing one of the biggest milestones of the entire build.
What’s Next for the Wood-Fired Mobile Sauna?
Over the coming months we’ll be focusing on:
- Completing the sauna benches
- Final interior detailing
- Ventilation and heat testing
- Trial sauna sessions
- Safety checks
- Planning our first public events and private hire opportunities
The vision itself hasn’t changed.
We’re still building a traditional wood-fired sauna inspired by Nordic sauna culture.
We’re simply making it more flexible, more accessible and hopefully able to bring authentic sauna experiences to more people throughout Suffolk and Norfolk.

Why Sauna?
