Wood Fired Sauna Norfolk Build Update
“Wood fired sauna Norfolk project Sauna Hus has had a huge month, from Arctic adventures on the Fjällräven Polar expedition to major progress on the sauna build itself.”
While the build has temporarily slowed down waiting for one very important part, there’s also been a huge personal adventure happening behind the scenes.
Fjällräven Polar 2026 – 300km Across the Arctic
Martin recently returned from completing the Fjällräven Polar, a 300km dog sled expedition through Arctic Lapland from Sweden towards Norway.

Fjällräven Polar is one of the most well-known winter expeditions in the world, bringing together people from all different backgrounds and countries to experience life in the Arctic. Over 30,000 people applied for this year’s event, with only a small group selected to take part.
The expedition involved travelling by dog sled across frozen lakes, forests, and Arctic tundra while living outside in harsh winter conditions. Days revolved around feeding dogs, melting snow for water, packing sleds, building camp, and travelling through constantly changing landscapes in temperatures far below freezing.
One minute would be complete silence crossing a huge frozen lake. The next would be holding onto a sled through twisting forest trails while the dogs charged ahead through the snow.
The trip was an incredible experience and something that aligns closely with the Scandinavian outdoor culture and wellbeing philosophy that has inspired Sauna Hus from the very beginning.
We’ll be sharing more photos and videos from the expedition over the coming weeks.

Sauna Hus Build Update
Now onto the sauna itself…
The biggest delay to the build has been the bespoke wood-fired sauna stove.
Originally, we were told the stove would arrive into the UK on the 3rd of May. Unfortunately delays outside of our control pushed this date back, and we’re now expecting it to arrive into the UK on the 14th of May.

As frustrating as delays are, the stove is one of the most important parts of the entire project and we wanted to make sure it was done properly rather than rushing the process.
The good news is the interior build itself is now largely completed. The cladding, electrics, lighting, and interior finish are all in place, and the solar panels have now been installed on the roof to help keep the onboard battery system topped up for lighting and low-power electrical use.

Once the stove arrives, we can move straight onto:
- Stove installation
- Building the sauna benches
- Final safety checks
- Testing and heat cycles
After that, Sauna Hus will finally be ready to welcome guests.
What’s Next for Sauna Hus?
Over the last few months, Sauna Hus has continued evolving as a project and business.
Wood Fired Sauna Norfolk Event & Campsite Plans
While we are still actively working towards securing what we hope will become a fantastic long-term permanent location, Sauna Hus will also operate as a mobile Nordic sauna experience attending selected events, campsites, outdoor venues, and wellbeing locations across Suffolk and Norfolk.

This opens up some really exciting opportunities for:
- Running events
- Outdoor fitness events
- Wellness retreats
- Cold water swimming gatherings
- Campsites
- Festivals
- Recovery sessions
- Corporate wellbeing events
- Sauna & yoga experiences
The mobile setup allows us to bring authentic Scandinavian-style sauna culture directly to outdoor spaces and communities while keeping the experience flexible, unique, and accessible.

Scandinavian Wood Fired Sauna Norfolk Experience
Sauna Hus has always been inspired by traditional Nordic sauna culture. Not just the sauna itself, but the feeling around it — slowing down, spending time outdoors, reconnecting with nature, warming up after adventure, and creating spaces where people can properly switch off.
Whether it ends up beside a lake, at a campsite, after a running event, or at a permanent waterside location, the goal remains exactly the same:
Heat. Steam. Repeat.
