Sauna Hus is a mobile sauna in Suffolk, built inside a converted Rice horsebox and available for outdoor sauna hire across Suffolk and Norfolk.
Our aim was simple — to create a traditional wood-fired sauna that could be enjoyed beside lakes, in the countryside, or wherever people gather to relax.
Rather than building a fixed structure, we chose something a little more unusual.

Today that horsebox has been carefully converted into a wood-fired sauna, creating a unique mobile sauna in Suffolk that can travel to private gatherings, retreats and special events.
The Horse box was in a very sorry state when we pulled her out of a field where she had sat for nearly 10 years.
With a bit of love, elbow grease and a lot of time she has been repurposed to allow people to relax and reset in a sauna.

Why a Horsebox?
Rice horseboxes have been a familiar sight on farms and equestrian yards across Britain for decades. Known for their strong construction and practical design, they were built to be reliable, easy to tow and capable of handling rural life.
The horsebox used for Sauna Hus still carries its original metal badge which reads:
Rice Trailers – Leicestershire
This refers to the original location of the Rice Trailers factory in England, where many of these trailers were manufactured from the 1950s onwards.
Rice horseboxes became one of the most recognisable horse trailers in the UK, widely used by farmers, riding schools and horse owners across the country. Many were built so well that they lasted for decades, which is why they are now often restored and repurposed.
For Sauna Hus, that heritage made the horsebox the perfect starting point for a sauna conversion.
The solid steel frame and compact design allowed us to transform the trailer into a fully functioning wood-fired sauna, while keeping the character of the original horsebox.
Inside the sauna you’ll find:
• traditional wooden sauna benches
• a wood-fired sauna stove with sauna stones
• the gentle heat and steam that makes sauna so relaxing
From the outside it still carries the distinctive shape of the horsebox, but inside it has been transformed into a warm and inviting sauna space.
