Betty Is Back, Building Our Wood Fired Sauna in Suffolk
After heading off for blast cleaning and paint, the horsebox has returned looking completely different. Clean steel. Fresh finish. A proper reset as we continue building a wood fired sauna in Suffolk beside the lake at The Cyder Farm.

Huge credit to the team at Buckenham Blast Cleaning who stripped everything back to bare metal. Taking it back to steel means you know exactly what you are rebuilding on.
Fixing a Leak During the Wood Fired Sauna in Suffolk Build

As the rebuild moved forward, we hit a small but important issue.
After laying the new floor and installing fresh insulation, we discovered a slight leak at the front right corner. Water had worked its way in and crept underneath part of the new insulation layer. It was not dramatic, but it was enough to stop everything and deal with it properly.
That part has probably been the most stressful stage so far.
The affected section was lifted. The area was fully dried. The source was tracked and sealed correctly. When you are building a lakeside sauna in Suffolk, water control matters. Especially when the sauna sits close to open freshwater and exposed countryside weather.
The corner has now been resealed and rebuilt properly. No shortcuts. No covering it up. If Sauna Hus is going to last, it has to be right from the inside out.

Insulating the Wood Fired Sauna in Suffolk
With that sorted, progress has been steady.
All insulation is now fully installed. Tight. Clean. Properly fitted. A wood fired sauna in Suffolk needs consistent heat retention, and that begins with the structure, not the stove.
Wiring has also gone in. Simple, neat and safe. It supports lighting, ventilation and the off-grid battery system.
There was also a small adjustment to the battery box position. The original placement clashed with the spare wheel bracket. Once dry-fitted, it was clear access would be awkward. The spare wheel holder is now being moved to the side, where it fits properly and keeps the layout practical.
This is how builds go. You adapt, You fix problems properly and You keep moving.
Premier Spruce Cladding Arriving
Next stage is cladding.
The Premier Spruce is due to arrive this week. That is when the interior will begin to feel like a traditional Scandinavian sauna rather than a construction project. Premier Spruce gives a light, clean finish that reflects warmth and creates a calm atmosphere.
If the weather holds, this week should bring visible change.
Sauna Hus is slowly taking shape beside the lake. A proper wood fired sauna in Suffolk. Built carefully. Built to last.
